# Find a SendMyCall number

Use this when a user wants a phone number in a given country or city from SendMyCall. Everything here works on the public website; no account or API key is needed to look. Buying needs the user: they sign up and pay themselves.

## Steps

With the public API the same steps are `GET https://sendmycall.com/api/v1/countries`, then `GET https://sendmycall.com/api/v1/areas?country=XX&q=<city>`, then hand the user the area's `order_url` (JSON, no key; https://sendmycall.com/developers). On the website:

1. **Country.** Decide the country and whether the user wants a toll-free number or a local, national or mobile one. Look the country up in https://sendmycall.com/virtual-number/llms.txt (virtual numbers) or https://sendmycall.com/toll-free/llms.txt (toll-free). Each line gives the country page, the dialling code and, where one is published, the lowest monthly price. These lists index the coverage pages and are built from a periodic coverage snapshot: a country that is not listed may still be on offer, and a listed one may have no numbers right now. Check https://sendmycall.com/numbers?country=XX and https://sendmycall.com/pricing before telling the user a country is or is not available.
2. **Area.** Open the country page. Its table lists the areas (cities or regions) that had numbers in stock at the last coverage snapshot, the number type, the monthly price where available and any documents the country requires. A city's own page, where there is one, gives the same for that city.
3. **Price.** The monthly price is in US dollars, tax included, no setup fee; the cloud phone system is included. Paying for 3, 6 or 12 months at once is discounted. All prices: https://sendmycall.com/pricing. Forwarding to phone numbers costs extra per minute: https://sendmycall.com/rates.
4. **Picker link.** Give the user the link that opens the number picker on that choice:
   - a country: https://sendmycall.com/numbers?country=XX (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2, for example GB)
   - toll-free numbers of a country: https://sendmycall.com/numbers?country=XX&type=toll-free
   - one area: the "buy" link of the area's row on the country page, which is https://sendmycall.com/numbers?country=XX&type=<type>&area=<id>; use it as the page gives it, do not build the area id yourself.
The picker shows the numbers available right now; the user picks one, chooses the period and pays.
